The vastly experienced shot-stopper looks set to begin a new phase in his career with the French capital side, who are closing on his signature
Jose Reina is set to become the latest arrival at Parc des Princes this summer, with the Napoli goalkeeper nearing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Goal understands that the former Liverpool and Barcelona shot-stopper has a preliminary agreement with PSG to sign before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
A new goalkeeper was not a priority for coach Unai Emery, but Reina's ability and experience will be a boon for the Ligue 1 giants as they look to retake the French title as well as mount a challenge for the Champions League.
Reina could clinch the move as early as Thursday, when agent Manuel Garcia Quilon is scheduled to hold a meeting with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique.
Napoli will receive an estimated €7.5 million for their No. 1, with the opportunity to bag a further €1.5m through performance-related bonuses.
The Spaniard, meanwhile, is set to sign on for an annual salary of €3.5m as well as €1.5m in bonuses.
Reina, 34, came through the youth ranks at the famed Barca academy La Masia but made just 49 first-team appearances in all competitions as he served as understudy for a succession of shot-stoppers at Camp Nou.
He later came to prominence at Villarreal and then Liverpool, where he starred between the posts and helped the Reds to the 2005 Super Cup, before moving on first to Bayern Munich and later Napoli, where he has been the undisputed starter for the Italians for the last two seasons.
