Chelsea are confident of completing the signing of Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko
Bakayoko is a long-standing target for Conte but the transfer has been beset by delays.
The 22-year-old was one of the stars of Monaco's run to the last four of the Champions League and, like so many of his team-mates, has been coveted by Europe's biggest clubs this summer.
Manager Antonio Conte has been frustrated in the transfer market this summer, after losing out to Manchester United in the race for striker Romelu Lukaku, but has managed to complete a £31m deal for Roma Antonio Rudiger as well as the free transfer of former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
The 22-year-old made 51 appearances for Monaco last season as they secured the Ligue 1 title
Having also faced competition for Bakayoko, Conte is set to battle Jose Mourinho once again, with both Chelsea and United chasing Roma's Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
While it was the club's Champions League success which catapulted many of the young Monaco squad to stardom, they also enjoyed success at home as they claimed the Ligue 1 title to break Paris Saint-Germain's dominance.
Bakayoko was an integral part of that success, playing 32 league games and scoring twice. In total he made 51 appearances last season, adding a further goal in the Champions League against Manchester City.
