Harry Redknapp has confirmed Birmingham have made an offer to sign John Terry.

The 36-year-old defender will be a free agent from July 1, when his contract ends at Chelsea, but after 22 years at his boyhood club the former England captain is not ready to bring the curtain down on his career yet.

'He could play for anybody still,' Redknapp said on talkSPORT on Thursday. 'I have always said I'd love to have him. You could build a team around him.

'He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick's testimonial. I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher and I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.

'I had a chat with him and said to him come in - he's doing his coaching badges - have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?

'We've made him a good offer, we've done the best we can and now it is up to John but we would love to have him at Birmingham.'

Blues boss Redknapp sealed his first signing of the summer on Tuesday when goalkeeper David Stockdale rejected a new contract at Premier League Brighton in favour of a switch to St Andrews.
