Jermaine McGillvary is revelling in the type of lifestyle that may, one day, become familiar to his son.

The wing, who has won rave reviews, will be looking to add to his tally of six tries as Wayne Bennett’s men seek to tame Tonga in the early hours of Friday to reach a first World Cup final since 1995.

And McGillvary — whose son, seven-year-old Isaac, is at Manchester City — is enjoying his own taste of Premier League standards.

ENGLAND VS TONGA

ENGLAND: Widdop; McGillvary, Watkins, Bateman, Hall; Brown, Gale; Hill, Hodgson, Graham, S Burgess, Whitehead, O’Loughlin (capt). Interchange: Walmsley, T Burgess, Currie, Roby.

Kick-off: 5am Friday, Mt Smart Stadium.

TV: LIVE on BBC Two from 4.30am. Referee: Matt Cecchin (Aus).

‘It’s the best set-up I’ve ever been involved in,’ said the Huddersfield man. ‘We don’t need to ask for anything — everything is done for us.

'All we have to concentrate on is playing. I’m a big Liverpool fan so he’s moved to the dark side. He’s been there since he was four so he’s blue now.’

Standing in the way of Isaac taking a break from City training and a trip to watch his dad play in the final in Brisbane next weekend, will be a Tonga side that have already toppled New Zealand.

England are slight favourites for the clash in Auckland, where the King of Tonga and a large crowd of Tongan expats are expected to create a hostile atmosphere which McGillvary is relishing.

‘It’s going to be great,’ he said. ‘We’re here for atmospheres like this. We’ll feel like underdogs with all their fans. I can’t wait.’
