These states are running out of CHIP funding

Sixteen states will run out of federal funding for CHIP -- the Children's Health Insurance Program -- by the end of January, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

CHIP provides health insurance coverage for just shy of nine million children whose families have too much income to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford the cost of insurance. It is increasingly used by families whose employer-provided insurance is too expensive.
